CHINESE MEERA PRASAD (11O)
Chinese this year was a unique experience. We were able to use the skills we developed in real situations. We moved on from basic phrases to proper dialect and conversation. The year consisted of a variety of relatable topics such as food, housing, healthy eating and a personal favourite — shopping. Overall Year 11 Chinese was a great year of developing our language skills, giving us a strong foundational base for Year 12. It was also exciting to use these new skills and vocabulary when we visited China in the September holidays. ■
YEAR 10 ENTERPRISE AND MANAGEMENT An essential life skill both for future study and work is the ability to work effectively with others. In addition, being consumer literate and aware of scammers is also an essential life skill. The Enterprise and Management course in Year 10 gives students the
opportunity to learn some of these skills. Year 10 students team up to prepare an entry for the Office of Fair Trading’s 2014 BuySmart Competition.
This year, Elena Dias Jayasinha (10G), Nina Donaldson (10G), Molly Pate (10G) and Stella Bogdanovic (10G) were awarded third prize for their entry in the Year 10-12 section of the competition. The girls prepared a 3D poster that resembled an ATM machine and was designed to teach teenagers about the possibility of ATM scams. ■
