second place at Interhouse Cross Country, making Otis proud and proving that eight legs are better than two. After our commendable efforts with all things sport, the girls didn’t stop as they hit the kitchen to show off their baking prowess, producing hundreds of batches of our famous melt-in-the-mouth chocolate brownies for Open Day. It was fantastic to see our O’Connor brownies sell out once again, thanks to the wonderful effort, dedication and organisational skills displayed by our Year 11s. The Year 8s also demonstrated their creative skills, as they superbly decorated their Year 8 stand, showing future Year 7 and 8 students what O’Connor is all about. All proceeds from the event went to our House charity, the East Timor Children’s Foundation. At the final event on the School calendar, our O’Connor family took their cheering expertise and turned it into sweet song to produce a spine-chilling choral rendition at Interhouse Choir. We are extremely proud of O’Connor’s achievements this year and hope we created a fun and enjoyable atmosphere for O’Connor. We are very honoured to have been O’Connor House Captains for 2014 and will always treasure our experience. ■

Maroon, Octopi and Brownies! These are three words that instantly come to mind when you think of O’Connor House. 2014 has been an amazing year for O’Connor. Spirits were high as the O’Connor Octopi swam, ran, jumped, threw, sang and cheered to new limits, embracing this year’s motto, Tentacles Together, Linked Forever . O’Connor definitely delivered on our motto this year, exhibiting tremendous spirit, involvement, enthusiasm, and the strong bonds between all girls. We kicked off the year with our House party, which saw lots of dancing, games, a massive maroon cake and super maroon costumes. Additionally, we saw incredible togetherness and union within O’Connor House, as the girls belted out some hefty war cries during Interhouse Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country.
