EComon in July a collaboration of eighteen students from the two Grammarschools participated In a programme called EComan at Corrs Chambers Westgarth. The programme was designed to illustrate the inner workings of a successful business corporation, applying economic principles and theory to the practicalities of managing an organisation. Over the three days we learnt about changing business

practices in varying economic climates, the strategies to build and sustain market share, and ultimately, what skills are required to run a business. it was an opportunity to put the ideas we learned in class into practice in a real- world environment, and to seek the advice of experienced managers and consultants

QUT Accounting in High Schools The QUT Accounting in High Schools Programme is for Year 12 Accounting students who would like to undertake a university course at the same time as juggling their final year of high school. in 2011 eight students spent

OZCLO This year, Brisbane Girls Grammar School entered two teams in the Fourth Australian Computational and Linguistics Olympiad (OZCLO) Competition on 24 March, competing at State and National levels to solve linguistic-based challenges and questions The competition was conducted at the Griffith University Southbank Campus and the participating students had strong backgrounds in Mathematics and Languages and thoroughly enjoyed logic and problem solving

their first semester studying BSBllO Accounting as an additional subject This course is the same as that undertaken by QUT first year Business Degree students. Each student experienced a taste of university life, such as receiving a QUT ID card, attending a few lectures, completing assessment and sitting the final exam. We also received workbooks, afternoon snacks and various goodies from QUT. All students succeeded in passing the course and will receive an extra rank point when their Ops are considered for courses at university next year Special thanks go to our Accounting teacher and co- ordinator Mrs Greig for organising everything and generously providing us with a couple of lunches along the way

In an energetic two-hour challenge, our teams pooled their intelligence to tackle pattern recognition problems, trying to discover the meaning behind unknown languages and even to decipher hieroglyphics I Both the Junior and he Senior~teams~achieved~a Silver~award and had a wonderful time participating

arguing beyond reasonable doubt that 'all visual footage of OSama bin Laden's death should not be released'. Not only at this debate, but also at the Senior A and others throughout the season, the G-Force could be heard loud and clear with the talent of our debaters being matched by the cheering abilities of the Girls Grammar supporters in the audience

Debating it has been a great year for Debating and Public Speaking at Girls The Australian Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championship Grammar. Our Years 8 and 9 debaters were offered the opportunity took place in the September holidays. Maisie Biggs (12G), Ruby to gain some valuable debating experience against Somerville Ramachandran (12W), Annie Huang (11M) and Mikaela Brusasco House and All Hallows' School in a Round Robin competition over (11W) took up the challenge and emerged with some spectacular results. Maisie won the overall Championship and she and Mikaela two terms will the Australian team to contest the World now loin

QDU Debating began in February with fifteen Girls Grammar teams. The competition ran every three weeks until September The final series commenced with an impressive eight of our teams remaining. Our outstanding 10.1 Team (Tea Angelos, Annabelle Ganko, Anna Meehan, Cynthia Ramachandran and Tara Blundell) stormed into the Grand Final winning convincing Iy against Terrace,

Championship in early 2012. Annie and Ruby were both presented with Highly Coinmended Awards for their performances. As Captains this year we have been so proud of everyone's achievements
