The Burning Season in May, the School was excited to host a special screening of the award-winning documentary The Burning Season, including a Q&A session with director Cathy Henkel. We were also delighted to welcome back Head Girl of 2005, Eininie Will 15, who is involved with the deforestACTION Borneo project, a global action project involving students from around the world in protecting the world's forests, and particularly the endangered orangutans

French Studg Tour During the September holidays, fifteen Year 11 girls travelled to France for three weeks on a study tour. The first two weeks were spent in An gouleme, a small town in the south of France We stayed with host families and attended classes with our French students at Lycee Saint Paul. We quickly discovered that French school life is very different from school here at Grammar, but we soon adapted to the long days, meeting plenty of new people and making friends with other students of Lycee Saint Paul during the long lunch break. We also visited the Loire Valley, Brant6me and Perlgueux Life with a French family fully immersed us in the culture the dinner table conversations, family functions and of course, French food We all thoroughly appreciated the efforts of our host families to make us feel at home

UN Club The Brisbane Girls Grammar United Nations Club alms to promote discussion about ethical, international and social Issues within the global community The club took part in a student-led Wikileaks seminar, assisted with the organisation of the 100th international Women's Day breakfast at the Convention Centre, and participated in the launch of the 100 Schools Network and the UN Youth State Summit. The club also held discussion groups providing the opportunity for members to discuss current events such as the death of OSama bin Laden, the use of robotic warfare, issues in the Horn of Africa and other topical news events The UN Youth Evatt Trophy competition enabled students to participate in a mock-UN Security Council debate with other high school students. This required the students to debate, negotiate, amend and vote on resolutions that they were given on the day. This year they were Nuclear Power, Refugees and Standing Armies. Eight girls participated in this event, with Hana Nihill and Rebecca Bellamy continuing to the state finals held at the Brisbane City Council Chambers

While it was difficult to leave our families and the little town we had grown to love so much we were all very excited as we boarded the train for a three-hour journey to Paris. Over the next four days, we visited many iconic sites such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe, the Musee 1'0rangerie, and the Louvre. Before we knew It, it was time to fly home. Thanks to Madame Thornquist and Ms Smith for preparing and accompanying us, and Mrs Tudball for joining us in France on such short notice. The study tour was an incredible experience we will never forget
