Artistic Gumnostics The 2011 season flew past with many fun, challenging and memorable moments including crazy dress day, holiday trainings and team breakfasts, and an in-house competition that allowed the girls to refine and perfect their routines before competing in the QGSSSA competition held at More ton Bay College on 5 May With the teams comprising girls with all different abilities, no one was afraid to put 100 per cent into each routine and compete In true Grammar style. Our Year 8 teams performed outstandingly, earning two out of the three team premierships. The Year 8 (ii) team - 011via Kentrotis, Madeleine Murphy, Nina Harrison, Amelia Buchanan and Emma Greensill - dominated their division even though their competition had more 'gymnastics' experience The Year 8 (111) team - Amelia Pitcher, MCKenzie Gladman, Harriet Gleed, Yvonne Graham and NYssa Johnston - were mostly beginners and dancers who trained hard to develop their skills. The Open team of Emily Farr, Lauren Tam, and Georgia Cooke, placed a commendable fourth in an extremely tough field of gymnasts in their division, though they enjoyed the

Many girls from the School team have also competed throughout the year for their clubs at regional and state events. Lauren Tam was selected to represent Queensland in September as part of the Border Challenge team We are both extremely proud to have led this great team to one of the most memorable seasons so far

After four months of hard work, gruelling training sessions and countless block starts, relay changes, jumps and throws, the day finally came. On Friday 14 October a squad of 107 Grammar girls headed out to QEll stadium decked out in blue, chanting spirited war cries when entering the venue. in a very tight competition we achieved a well deserved second place overall. Outstanding on the day were record-breaking performances from Kate Johnstone, Christie Moiloy and losephine Auer. The Year 8 girls also put in a tremendous effort at their first QGSSSA Athletics securing themselves the 13 Years age pennant. All girls should be very proud of their efforts. it has been a thoroughly enjoyable season with countless positive memories

Athletics The season started in the June/July break at a new location, the QEll track. We kicked off with over 100 students, including many new eager Year 85 attending holiday training throughout the three week vacation. Attendance continually increased through Term 111 and the Athletics squad was looking very promising Due to poor weather conditions, there were unfortunately very few Athletics meets this year. Although this disappointed the girls, as they did not receive as much practice as they had hoped, all athletes trained very hard and competed fantastically when given the opportunity at Friday afternoon meets. A number of Grammar girls also competed at Metropolitan North trials and were extremely successful. During the September holidays, many girls from the squad gave up their holidays to train for the big day - QGSSSA Championships - and training intensified going into Term N
