Go the Maroons!

What a fantastic year of fun it's been for O'Connorites! Showing our true maroon

^,

colours we began the year with a cracker of a House Party-games (including egg and spoon races, donut scoffing, fluffy bunnies, 0'Connor Top Model and how much ice-cre in can you eat?), skits, awesome radio tunes, gigantic pizzas, 1011ies, chocolate, cake and more cake! Year 10s were the triumphant worthy winners of our House noticeboard competition. At the Interhouse Swimming carnival many O'Connorites revealed their inner sea creatures (our mascot is an octopus, after all) and the rest of us went hoarse with cheering on the swimmers. Special mention should be made of Megan Mackay (, 10) who swam her heart out first for O'Connor and t e School and then for Queensland and Australia! For the inter house Cross Country and Athletics competitions we demonstrated that eight legs can be helpful on land as well as in the water! All of the girls who ran, threw and jumped did the House proud, and were strongly supported by their entire House cheering on the sidelines.

Other great efforts were achieved at inter house Debating and Choir challenges. Our new enthusiastic Year 8s impressed us all with their magnificent volleyball skills. We all shared some wonderful House breakfasts during the year-choc-chip hot cross buns for Easter, pancakes and ice-cream, chocolate croissants and witch fingers for Halloween. On Open Day we sold hundreds of our famous O'Connor brownies, raising a handsome sum for charity. Year I I did a fabulous job of organising the brownie stall. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all O'Connorites for the part they've played in making 2008 such a wonderful Iy memorable year. We couldn't have done it either without the endless support of MISS A Dare. Go the Maroons!
