, , , Gibsonites of 2008 may rightful Iy claim that they too possessed the spirit of enthusiasm and participation , which has long been a hallowed tradition of our House. , , ^o1 At the start of the year new friendships were made between the Year 8s and Year 12s-singlets were painted, team building games were played. The House Party was a great welcome back to all the girls' The afternoon revealed an extraordinary array of costumes, bizarre dancing displays and, of course, lots of yummy treats. Madeleine Young (10G) and Rachael Me 11ick (10G), who encapsulated the spirit of Gibson, were titled Miss Gibson and Gibson Fashion respectively. The Gibson girls, renowned for their winning style, claimed first place in the inter house Swimming carnival, a feat which epitomised our enthusiasm and sense of unity. Our triumph was a direct result of the leadership and organisation of our House Sports Captains Kate Price and Elizabeth Crombie, and the individual contributions made by every Gibsonite. in the closing weeks of first term, Gibson hosted its first pancake breakfast-a welcome relief from the onslaught of assignments and exams. The purple force united for interhouse Cross Country competition in Term 11. We placed honourably, with a magnificent effort by all. In Term 111 our enthusiasm and participation earned the House a glorious second place at the Inter house Athletics carnival. Gibson has a proud history of supporting community , ,

The success of the stall was due to their fantastic and tireless efforts. Anna Redmond and Georgina Chumbley initiated a very successful Royal Children's Hospital Easter Egg programme. The spirit that is the ancient tradition of Gibson is not an atmosphere that simply occurs by itself-it is actually the work of each member. Special thanks must go to our younger Gibson girls whose cheerfulness, optimism and enthusiasm has helped make the year memorable and successful. Our gratitude is extended to the Year lis for their tireless efforts, support and organisation. The Year 12s will be remembered for their unquestionable generosity and spirit of fun. The smooth running of Gibson throughout the year is a reflection of the ongoing guidance and support offered by Mrs H Boltman. Thanks also to Mrs P Hart, Mrs M Bryant, Mrs C Kiolle, Miss H Hollie and Mr R Bowman, the House Group teachers, whose assistance has been invaluable. There is no doubt that Gibson will experience another enjoyable and exceptional year to follow. We trust that the Year 8s have enjoyed their first year and are now travelling confidently on their Girls Grammar journey. To every girl of the purple force- thanks for making it such a memorable and enjoyable year. As we pass on the baton to those who follow, we are confident the Gibson girls will continue to forge strongly ahead. 8^'E'77^@"',, I^"'P ^141e','/,, Ei!I^?k" ^'@^^'r'^^Pi^,\^

service projects and this year was no exception. Support continued for our World Vision child Vusi. Over the years Vusi has become a very special member of the Gibson family. Anna Redmond and Alexandra Markey, the Gibson Service Captains, raised awareness and encouraged donations to support him. On Open Day the Year I is ran the strawberries and cream stall in aid of Vusi.
