Beanlandians commenced 2008 in a flurry of pink excitement, anticipation and enthusiasm. From the induction of our Year 8 cubs on their first day, it was clear that each possessed a deep pride in their pink identity, and that combined, their spirit would be a force to be reckoned with. Our House Party, held in early Term I, was the perfect excuse for each and every Beanland bear to pull out their most shocking shades of pink and flaunt their House pride for all to see. The games, the food and the fun provided an ideal environment for bonding, both in and across the Year levels. The Interhouse Swimming competition soon arrived, and allowed Beanlandians to put to use the spirit that they had stored throughout the term. This was followed by the much anticipated Cross Country competition, in which we hoped for our fourth consecutive win. As a result of the outstanding attendance, enthusiasm and talent of Beanland's walkers, runners, jumpers and hoppers, we once again took the title of inter house Cross Country Champions. With such promising athletes on our Beanland team, we held high hopes for success at Athletics. Sure enough, our cheering coupled with the outstanding talent of our athletes won us the Aggregate Athletics Cup.

in accordance with the "Make Your Mark" theme of 2008, Beanland worked hard to raise funds for Light of Lanka, our charity for the year. The success of our fundraising was made even more worthwhile after a visit from the charity's Co- ordinator, Ms Needra Doyle. Ms Doyle spoke about the orphanage in Sri Lanka that our fundraising supported, and Beanlandians were more determined than ever to continue to raise funds and awareness for this worthwhile cause. Thank you to every bear who made this year so very successful for our beloved Beanland House. Special thanks must of course go to this year's Mama Bear, Mrs A Ingrain. Her ongoing support, enthusiasm and hard work, has made this year one to remember for all Beanlandians.
