Lilley House
A feeling, a pride, a belonging
exception, with the outstanding performances of our girls in the Interhouse Swimming, Cross Country and Drama Competitions, as well as their benevolent endeavours towards charities such as Surf Life Saving Queensland. Lilley girls have enthusiastically approached Intrahouse activities such as Lilley Idol (which canvasses the broad talents within the House) and House breakfasts which endeavour to bridge the gap between age groups. Since Lilley House was established in 1964, it has grown and changed in many ways, but one factor will always remain - the happy and fun atmosphere of House spirit and hard work that Lilley House fosters, and the way in which this impacts upon the Girls Grammar experience of all Lilley girls.
What does Lilley House mean to its members? It is a House of fun, pride, friendship, commitment, hard work and most importantly, spirit. The spirit of Lilley House extends far beyond the gates of Brisbane Girls Grammar School as it encourages each girl to excel, not only School activities, but in every aspect of her life. Lilley Spirit is not something that can be verbalised, but rather a feeling, a pride, a belonging, a joy and a home. A feeling each Year 8 girl feels as she enters, and each Year 12 girl feels as she leaves the famous Lilley tunnel. A sensation that can only be felt as you cross the finish line at Athletics and hear your House singing ‘L-I-L-L-E-Y H-O-U-S-E’. To each Lilley girl, her House is at the very heart of her Brisbane Girls Grammar School experience,

Lilley girls embrace diversities, as they work and strive beside one another, proudly wearing green, with a common goal, to swim through the pond and come out a frog, ready for the world ahead of them.
