Red… not just a colour!

This year Griffith girls proved once again that the Griffith spirit passed down through generations is still as powerful and passionate as ever. The vitality possessed by the House in 2005 has allowed for a team effort that has created a unique and spirited atmosphere on every occasion. This year an effort to embrace the spirit of Griffith involved rediscovering our ‘redness’, as we believe this colour helps to inspire us. Red is the colour of power and passion, and we urged all Griffith girls to look inside themselves and bring out their best. 2005 has been jam-packed full of fun, healthy Interhouse competition of all sorts. The first event of the year was the Interhouse Swimming Competition which helped to prove to all other Houses just how well spiders can swim. Another

tremendous efforts paid off when she placed first in her year level. Amazing results were also achieved by some of Griffith’s newest members, Isabeau Williams (8R) who placed second and Wendy Chan (8R) who placed third. The highlight of the year has to be the House Party which brought together girls of all different shades of red in one afternoon filled with wacky games, delicious food and imaginative red clothing. Red lollies and red cordial proved a dangerous combination; however, spirits were high and everyone participated actively in the games, competitions and all round festivities. Other highlights of the year include the lob-a-choc stall on Open Day (which raised nearly $700 for the Refugee Claimant Centre in Brisbane) and the morning aerobics and tai chi classes conducted during House Assembly. Nothing this year could have or would have been possible without the tireless efforts of Griffith Head of House, Ms O’Sullivan, as well as Year 12 House Group Teacher, Mrs Geraghty. main athletic endeavour was the Interhouse Cross Country Competition, which saw a large number of Griffith girls rise energetically to the challenge. While some people strolled or hopped their way around the three kilometre course, others took it a little more seriously. An outstanding result was achieved by Rachel Ferris (11R) whose
