England House

2005 has seen each England eagle hatch, mature and spread her wings. In all facets of Grammar life, Soaring Above the Rest

This success was mirrored by the Year 11s who have continued last year’s Open Day bottle stall success. Much thanks and praise go to all these girls for the fantastic effort they have made in England House this year. For the Year 12 eagles who are about to leave the nest, we must say that your enthusiasm, spirit, dedication and love for fun has made the year exciting, successful and above all, memorable. You have soared high, achieved remarkable things and made memories to last a lifetime. Next year, remember the sky’s the limit. Before we go we must thank the guiding birds of the England flock, Mr Chadirchi, Mrs Barker, Mrs Cooke, Ms McAdam, Ms Monteith and finally our Head of House, Ms McGarry, who has provided us with the opportunities to really test our wings. Englanders have achieved - soaring above the rest through individual efforts, year level teamwork, and as a whole House. Beginning the year as tentative hatchlings, the Year 8s have leapt into the life of England House with great enthusiasm. With the annual House Party (an afternoon of pizza, lollies, games and anything blue) already under their wings, the Year 8 eagles experienced an early taste of the true England spirit competing in the Interhouse Volleyball Competition.

This House spirit grows in each and every girl as they move up in the nest, as evidenced by the Years 9 and 10 eagles who have matured greatly throughout 2005. Undertaking new personal endeavours each girl also strengthened her ties within the House and led the way for the Year 8 girls to follow. Highflying was the order of the day when England House won a well-deserved gold achievement in the Interhouse Drama Competition with their production of The Legend of Kaguyahime , directed by Jemima Cowderoy (12E).
