Beanland House

Beanland House

The introduction of House Prefects and the new positions of joint House Captains and House Sports Captains has provided a more stable and involved leadership infrastructure to Beanland House. Girls from a younger age are now encouraged to assume leadership positions and work in conjunction with their peers and this emphasis on increased individual involvement has strengthened bonds within respective House Groups. In keeping with tradition, Beanland House has maintained its reputation as one of the friendliest Houses. The girls continue to bring vibrant colour, excitement and spirit to all Interhouse events. Pink halos, feathers, streamers, fairy wings and tutus have dominated sporting and cultural pursuits. After initiating our new bear cubs with our House philosophy – pink is more than just a colour! – they effortlessly embraced Beanland House to become spirited and enthusiastic House members. Outstanding achievements in the Interhouse Swimming, Drama, Cross Country, Athletics and Choral Competitions have resulted from their admirable commitment. Learning, creativity & fun

Beanland House pledged its support to two charities this year – The National Breast Cancer Foundation and Light of Lanka, an orphanage set up for victims of last year’s horrific Boxing Day tsunami. On Open Day, Beanland’s winning fairy floss stall again made huge profits. Taking advantage of the public’s sweet tooth, we raised a sum in excess of one thousand dollars which will contribute to these very worthy causes. The Year 11s did a fantastic job of setting up and decorating the stall and the girls from the younger years added their enthusiasm and hard work to make the night thoroughly enjoyable for all concerned. This year has been one of growth and development for Beanland House. Our Year 12s have seized the opportunities before them and provided Beanland House with the best possible environment within the School for learning, creativity and most importantly, fun. Our heartfelt thanks to the Seniors and to each and every girl for all their support throughout the year. Eden Manning & Amelia Cruse HOUSE CAPTAINS
