Glass slippered feet on polished stone, The violins now sing, That haunting tune and regal dance - The Masquerade of the Peacock King Lord Raven with his in Idn ght wings, From s adow spies his foe in Obsidia mask and o0ded cloak Stands black-so led Baron Crow For twirling round in pearls and lace, in silks of shimmering white, All eyes re Ixed on Lady Swan; The o1^Iect of their fight The Crow with glint'rig jus fit ed eyes, On Swan makes his advance The harp str'kes up, the couples meet, The music speeds their dance Lord Raven now can take no more As dancers take heir pose He pulls from his wings charcoal depths, A single, black thorned rose With silent, inu dero s, dead y aim, The black rose takes its fl ght But C ow sees Ravens plan and moves, Not he shall die this night Lord Raven smiles, the deed is done, He t Inks his quarrel Ia d to rest, But rose lies not n Crows black heart, But in Swans white feathered breast Her body cradled in his arms, Raven weeps for this sad night, While without a sorrow in his eart, The Baron takes his flight The dashing Raven hung that night, For murder is a heinous thing, His s ory forever to be played - in The Masquerade of the Peacock King
