'-"^::, 11that , a, 1 th Ja, ZZ >.. The annual Gala Concert took place at Brisbane City Hall on 24 October. The theme for this year was 'And All That Jazz'. The concert included a variety of music, from ragtime, dixieland and early , to rchestral pieces by Shostakovich SWl ' lid eroy Anderson. Highlights of the afternoon included alumni Melissa Hickey
performing Allen \fizzuttiS American Jazz Suite with the Symphonic Winds and the grand finale Chicago Medle performed by the Combined Choir and Symphony Orchestra I musicians performed with excitement and enthusiasm. Their effort and co- operation over the preparation period was much appreciated by the music staff and the audience applauded the depth of talent on display. More importantly all musicians involved truly appreciated the hard work of the music directors and their dedication towards making the concert the perfect balance between education and entertainment The Gala Concerts would not be possible without the wonderful support the Music Department receives from the Music Support Group The parents help with ticket sales, decorations, stage management, catering and producing the DVD of the event. The music students would like to warmly thank all the music parents who help to make the Gala Concerts a success year after year
