I >-- At the start of the 2004 school year all Year 8 singers and actors were given the opportunity to be involved in the first ever musical offered for these ages. After two strenuous weeks of auditions numerous Brisbane Girls Grammar School students lined up to see if they had a part in the combined musical with Brisbane Grammar School - Middle School We got underway with rehearsalsjust days after the list had been posted and because it was only a matter of weeks before opening night, there was a lot of work that had to be done. On Friday afternoons and Sundays the cast met to eat, socialise and work as hard as possible to make the show the best it could possibly be Finally it was opening night and every one arrived early to get their hair done and makeup applied by some eager mothers. Everyone was nervous as we warmed up our voices and counted down until show time The show was great and such a rewarding experience. Everyone that was involved learnt a lot about being on the stage and gained confidence in performing for an audience. Guys and Dolls has given me such a great experience that I know if another musical was offered I would definitely want to be involved ut, 1014tda Barni' ' '00

>.. If I was given one word to describe this years combined Grammar Schools production of Cosi, I wouldnt be able to do so. Cosi has been described as untorgettable, hilariously funny and much to the delight of the Director Mr Patterson, very well received by packed audiences I played the role of Cherry, a middle aged schizophrenic in love with the main character Louis IJames Walshl who had the unfortunate role of fending off her open and quite frightening expressions of interest. Never in my life have I experienced and enjoyed so many people laughing at me. I know this was unanimously felt by all the cast and crew members who worked tirelessly to achieve just that - having people laugh at them For all involved this was an unforgettable experience and the best advice I could give to students interested in becoming involved in . these productions, in the spirit of Cosi - go nuts
