"We're green because we're green because we're green ..." What do grass. Granny Smith apples, slime, garbage bins. Oscar the Grouch. peppermint Freddos, trees, Ieprechauns and Somerville uniforms have in common? Their grotesque Yet gratifying greenness of course Whether we like to believe it or not, green not only dominates our everyday existences, but also School life at Grammar, which it certainly did thanks to the spirit, success and surprises of killey House in 2002 When reflecting on the green-filled Year that has passed as we put away our green super frog costumes for the final time, what comes to mind is the spirit, fun and friendships that have been formed throughout various Inter house activities and House Lilley-Pad': The Year started with the bang of balloons and consuming of chocolate when we welcomed the enthusiastic new Year 85 in true Lilley style at the very green and very mean House Party extravaganza. Although at first they may have been somewhat shocked by the green haze that settled over the Stage Lawn, the Year 85 followed the example of the rest of the House, by decking themselves out completely in green and eating copious amounts of food. Despite tough competition and rivalry from the multitalented, singing and dancing tillians dressed to kill in green at the inaugural Miss Lilley competition, Stephanie Maynard of 10 Lilley emerged victorious The Year 85 again voiced their newfound spirit and talent at the Interhouse Volleyball competition. in which they wowed the other Houses assemblies in which we "defended our
with their cool bandannas, roof-raising cheering and of course their fantastic volleyball skills and placed fourth The physical talent and spirit infected the rest of the House for the Interhouse Swimming, where loud, energized and green tutu wearing girls descended on the Chandler Aquatic Complex. Lilley created a splash and showed the School the meaning of the word green through their flair, sporting prowess and amazing, ear-splitting cheers. Our Sports Captain. HeIen Bailey, stunned all the opposition with her spirit and superb swimming style, placing second in her age group Keeping with the theme of greenness. the play that was chosen by Drama Captains, Georgie Parker and Belinda MCRae was an adaptation of the classic film Shrek. Shari Black was an inspiration for the rest of the House with the complete covering of her body with green face paint for the role of the friendly ogre, Shrek and Jess Holmes starred as the Donkey. After three weeks of furious and intense rehearsals, the line "in the morning, jin makihg waffles, "became quite a catch phrase among the Lilley thespians Leaping Lilley Legends. Flying through the air and diving through hoops, the little green frogs dazzled other Houses, led by our Gymnastics Captains, Kate MCCann and Lauren Roemermann. The outstanding performances by Anna Hill and Am anda Lee See gained them individual placings and inspired fellow Lillian gymnasts. The afternoon was an enjoyable one of balls and hoops flashing through the air, followed by long-legged frogs leaping and tumbling across the floor The Inter house Gymnastics was an event of gigantic proportion for
The green sequins, tulle tutus, war pai and stockings re-emerged in force at the Athletics Carnival. All day, Lillians streaked across the field, leaving the phantoms, angels and octopi in their wake. The incredible Involvement of a House members in this fun filled day was outstanding and spurred individua place getter Carly A1biez and other hoppers, skippers and cart wheelers to Lilley's greatest feat in 2002 began in House assemblies in late Third Term as Lilley began to rehearse the hit song Worsts" for Inter house Choir. Choir Captains Emily Maynard and Katie MCBryde coached the amazing soloists success and those frogs among us who originally believed their croaky voices couldn't hold a tune, to a commendable performance and first place victory. This event showed the Immense dedication, spirit and talent in Lilley House as we up held our motto and "Defended our Ulley-Pad': House, Mrs Cowen and our House Group teachers, Ms Pearn, Mr SCOthern, Ms Gummer, Mrs Charles-Edwards and Miss Salmon, because without their help and constant enthusiasm, the Year wouldn't have been the success that it was Also to our Year 12 House Group, Your friendship and support over the past five Years has made our time in Lilley and at Grammar even more unforgettable and we thank You for the memories We'd also like to thank our Head of
This Year we revelled in our greenness and soaked up the hours spent doing what all Lillians like best, having fun 2002 has been an especially special Year for the Year 12 Lilley Legends who are 00 longer tadpoles, but must take their Lilley spirit and memories to a much bigger pond We think Milly Taylor summed it up when she said, "its great to be a port of somethihg, but its even better to be a port of Liney "
