Term Three commenced with the inter house Athletics Competition, with lots of energy, redness and spirit supporting the amazing achievements of Kate Lenth, Rachel Ferris. NICole Cheales and Am anda Cheales. Grimth enjoyed further success at the Inter house Choral Competition, as our Choir Captains, Philippa Davie and Priya Cherian. provided the motivation necessary to reach the high notes in our rendition of "Seasons of Love': Our soloists, Rachel Ferris. Thea Taylor, Hannah Douglas and lessica Shulman, and our accompanist, Caitlin Mullins, all helped the House to achieve our Honourable Mention from the adjudicator The fundraising initiative introduced this Year has proved to be a rewarding and valuable experience. which has helped to raise funds and awareness for the Guide Dogs Association of Queensland. The commitment all girls showed towards the project through such pursuits as cooking sausages and chopping onions has been truly admirable As the Year 125 embark upon their journeys outside School. our memories of Grimth House and all that You have represented in spirit, enthusiasm and commitment throughout 2002 will remain close to our hearts The contribution everyone has made to the House has been outstanding. and has been driven by the extraordinary leadership of our Sports Captains, Am anda, Eliza and Julie. and of course, our VCe House Captain, Hope. The endless guidance and support from Ms O'Suilivan. and indeed from all our House Group Teachers has made this year not only possible, but also phenomenal Grimth House can only be as strong as the people who are a part of its spirit, and that is why 2002 has been a truly remarkable Year. Thank You for everything Redbacks. and all the best for the future - may the Grimth force be with You !
The amazing spirit, vivacity and dedication of the Griffith Redbacks throughout 2002 proved their character both as individuals and as a team We embarked upon our Year of friendships and fun as the Year 125 welcomed aboard our new bunch of Year 85, who arrived on their first day willing to learn the inevitabilities of Grammar life! After a day of red 10/11es. games. professionalIy guided tours and a picnic in the park, they were acquainted with the eating habits and enthusiasm of Grimth girls. Having impressively rallied the support of the House, they proceeded to lead Griffith to successful placings in the Year 8 Volleyball and Basketball competitions, during which they displayed the determination and spirit of true Redbacks! The Year 85 were ready to embark upon a Year filled with highlights and memories Our first event was the "Griffindor House Party". where daring, nerve and chivalry were displayed all afternoon as the Grimthindors ate snakes and spiders, gobbled up "blood drenched" ice-cream and searched for the Philosopher's Stone. The annual Miss Redback Competition was won convincing Iy by the Year 85, who performed a delightful skit which had the audience rolling with laughter The afternoon was a food filled experience which proved to be heaps of fun ~ and a sign of the times to come
The interhouse Swimming Carnival, held at the Chandler Aquatic Centre was our first chance to reveal our brand new war cry, "Griffith Redbacks Rock You", the effects of which damaged the eardrums of each and every competitorl Everyone appeared to have a fantastic day, and proved the cliched statement that 'winning 15 not everything', and that we could. in fact, arrive home satisfied in the knowledge that we had each tried out best for Although the Inter house Drama Competition proved to be a little stressful for our Drama Captains, A1yia Rahemtula and Ienna Naidu, as they competently directed our performance of "Fantastic Mr Fox". it was certainly tremendous fun for all those involved Not only was Grimth awarded a Silver Medal for their performance in the festival, but the actors and captains alike experienced the comradeship, sheer satisfaction and inexplicable exhilaration associated with stage work our House
Many budding Holly wood stars strutted their stuff and may have launched their future careers in the name of Grimth House - girls, we want recognition at the Logies! Term Two focussed upon building re at ionships within the House. which became increasingly important as the demands of school life increased As we I as some wonderful breakfasts hosted by the Year 115 and Year 95, we enjoyed meeting in Victoria Park for the Inter house Cross Country A seemingly endless supply of ice- blocks relieved the heat of the afternoon. as Rachel Ferris, Caitlin White and Kate Leitch crossed the finishing line with flying colours! Griffith customarily excelled at the Inter house Gymnastics Competition, having been inspired by the amazing achievements of Eliza Gower, our Grimth celebrity, as the Senior Elite Champion of Rhythmic Gymnastics in Australia
