The School was also treated to the added dimension of a high-quality performance of Indian and Japanese dancing from Kalarvaani Am bur aka Vani (Germany) and A Shimada (Japan). Grateful thanks are extended to all parents and girls who kindly hosted our visitors, Mrs Jenny Staib, parent co- ordinator of the Sister School Homestay Program, allour language staff, and Mrs We ridy Parkinson, Co-Obinator of the Sister School Program Our Sister School long stay students become part of the school community - in classes, sports and music. In March we farewelled Erika Chatsni from Selfinkan High School, Japan, after her 12 month stay with us We have been pleased to welcome Toshiko Kawai who is currently studying with us until March 2002

Julie Sze was awarded Second Prize in the prestigious Second CQU - Meikai University and Asahi University Japanese Speech Competition. She will fly to Japan later in the year MarinaTsutsumi (9R) was awarded First Prize in the Junior Background Division of the 30th Annual Japanese Language Speech Contest

Latin students performed very well in the American Classical League and National Mythology Competitions earlier this year. Year 10s, Anna TayloL Gabriella Ritchie. Angela Sheu and A1ison MCGill were awarded Gold Summo Cum Loude Certificates Phoebe Coulon-MCIntosh, Kate Lilley and Year 10s, Sally O'Grady, Julia Harrison, Tamara Ham, lemma Lawon and Margaret Wynne, were awarded Silver Maxima Cum Loude Certificates Eight Magna Cum Loude certificates were also attained. Jocelyn Knight was inspired by her Mythology unit to create a beautiful quilt which was displayed in the library The nature of studentlanguage experiences, whether in English or their foreign language/5.1ncludes a wealth of print-based, visual and multimedia materials which offer a rich dimension to language learning
