A Great EXchange Hello. My name is To shiko Kawai. ith an EXchange Student from Seirinkan High School in Japan. I'm in Year I I I want to write about the differences in school systems between Australia and Japan and my thoughts about the experiences that I have had this year The first difference I noticed in the school systems was the timetable in Japan we can't decide our own timetable but here we can choose our own subjects. I like this system because we can take subjects that we like and need. I also learnt about assignments for the first time when I came to BGGS. Here we are given quite a big range of homework and we have to hand it in within a fixed period But we can't hand it in only writing a short answer. As this school we have to write our own opinions or include results of investigations We usually just write answers to the questions so it 15 very easy. But I think Australian assignments make us think independently. I was surprised about examinations in Australia because there are not many questions. There are only about five questions but in Japan there are about one hundred questions, or at least fifty. We have to work quickly to answer the questions We have to study for an examination about three weeks prior otherwise we won't be well prepared. Also all of the examinations are given un three days
I like the Australian examination style because we can take our time to solve a few questions. These are some of the differences I have noticed between school systems in Australia and Japan I have experienced a lot of things this year I have really enjoyed myself and made a lot of friends. Thanks to my friends, I can overcome my loneliness and make lots of memories experienced many things that I can't experience in Japan. The eXchange experience is great because I can join classes and events at a foreign school as a local student. it's often very hard for me to join in classes because everyone discusses and argues with very fluent English, but it's important to try to listen to their English without giving up. I can find pleasure in art excursions, athletic meetings, the Gala concert and the great Semi-formal party!!! Being an eXchange student involves not only learning English, but it allows me to be part of an Australian school community as well They have also shown me how precious friendship 15. I have
