The strength, dedication and solid training of the athletes were evident with the 13 years and 16 years both winning their age group pennants The 16 years are yet to be defeated over 4 years of competition, showing their amazing depth of talent Memorable among the day's outstanding performances were those of Sigrid Mewing, Frances Bain and Kate Leitch All the spectators and athletes admired the courage and endurance displayed by Chefise DeVere and Emma Prize man who were both
a chance to develop their skills and Increase their competitive edge Blue skies and scorching heat heralded the 19th October and the QGSSSA Athletics competition. The athletes battled fiercely This year the competition was held in the main QEll stadium. Trials were to be held for several events, as there are only nine lanes around the bend Unfortunately, the trials were rained out and subsequently had to be held on the morning of the competition, which meant several gins competing in up to seven events throughout the day
Approximately sixty BGGS athletes competed in six meets held on Friday nights at the University of Queensland. As in previous years, these meets are an opportunity to compete against rival schools and strive for personal bests. Kate Leitch represented the School in the Open Grand Prix events and became champion over the six meets of this competition Fellcity Abram ran an amazing 3000m during the meets and came flying home with a personal best that qualified her for the Junior World Championships These meets gave the Athletics squad
