for the year underway, we welcomed the Year 85 with balloons, orange ice-blocks, games and a tour of the School;just as we were welcomed into Grammar in 1997. We were amazed with the enthusiasm and commitment with which our newest Hirschfeldians took to school and House life, achieving an impressing placing in the Year 81nterhouse Volleyball Competition. Far more impressive was the initiative they showed in creating tiger-stripe bandanas, and rallying a crowd of older girls as supporters for each match The enthusiasm of the Year 85 and 125 quickly spread to the other year groups, with the first House meetings of the year - learning new war cries and some of the old ones - Hirschfeld's first Valentine's Day Breakfast, and our annual House Party The House Party was a sea of orange, with Year 10s impressing the House

with their skit, Yearll'sJess Mitchell earning the coveted 'Miss Hirehfeld' Award, and the Year 95 winning the Best Dressed House Group Prize We were eager to put this spirit Into action, with February's Swimming Competition at Chandler Hirschfeld produced some Incredible individual performances, including Courtney Gumbley, Felicity Abram, and An Ita Farmer all earning a place in the Age Champion Awards. Once again, Hirschfeld splashed a dash of orange on all that happened during the day, with all agreeing that the very cheering Hirschfeld girls set the mark for spirit inter house Drama was a hilarious romp led by Jane Matley and Camilla Roberts, in which girls assumed the roles of various Blackodder characters to entertain and dazzle with wit. wearing oversized army costumes and the occasional lop-sided moustache or streak of military face-paint. Edwina Morgan was sensational as the sarcastic Blackadder and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience of creating and rehearsing the play, as well as getting to know each other, and dressing up! Term Two was focused on friendship, with each House Group making links and having fun with other House Groups, older and younger. Year 85 and 95 played games, Year 10s and I is shared a breakfast, Years 11 and together with our Year 8 buddies to answer some questions about life, love and the universe! Having had a break from the frantic activity of Term Two, Hirschfeldians prepared to run, stroll, piggyback or three-leg race the two-kilometre interhouse Cross Country. Hirschfeldians cheered on assembly the following day when it was announced that HITSchfeld House had WON THE CROSS COUNTRY which represented our second win in this event in three years. More importantly, Hirschfeld girls enjoyed themselves as they engaged in pre- race war cries and walked or bounced along with their fellow tiggers 12 shared a breakfast to discuss formals. and Year 125 got back
