On a forgotten island, deep within a purplejungle lives the most phantastic super hero of them all, the Phantom! For generations he has offered phantomenal support to Gibson House and this year, kindly forwarded to us a group of phabulou Year 8 Gibsonites. At the first House meeting all members of Gibson took the Phantom Oath, and pledged, during their Grammar lives, to realize the Phantom's qualities of couragein the face of adversity, never ending spirit and most importantly, kindness First on the year's calendar was the eventful Gibson House Party As the Grammar atmosphere. The other Houses shivered as they witnessed the vast and amazing array of purple phashion. and the overwhelming look this year was the phantasiic tutu The Year 85 were quick to grasp the concept of purple and Sigi Mewing was named Miss Phantom Phasion for her snappy and stylish purple finery The Year I 15 took out the award for the greatest display of House spirit and Sally Stubbing ton was awarded the title of MISS Gibson 2001 for her dancing abilities. Particular praise must be given to Peta Johnson, the bravest Phantom there, for courageously donning the purple phantom suit and making purple Iycra a must for the phashion season Year lis observed, there was definitely some purple in the
With the first Inter house sporting competition came an inspiring sense of House comradeship. A sea of purple dominated the Chandler Aquatic Centre as the entire House gathered to cheer on our swimming champions. The overwhelming House support and enthusiastic participation made this a phantastic day on which Gibson was able to place second overall and won the Burrell Cup. At the inter house Cross Country the Phantom was out in force as the talented Gibsonites demonstrated their skill by enduring a challenging two kilometre run Congratulations must go to Annabelle Matthews for winning the Year I I division and Sigi Mewing for winning the Year 8 division. However it was not until the Inter house Athletics that Gibson allowed it's full force to be felt. Tigers, spiders, frogs and angels fell to the skill and spirit of Gibson House. Not only did the other Houses fear the Phantom, they feared Gibson, who fought gallantly to take out third place and the Relay trophy Lara Ulasowski and Sigi Mewing shined that day, adding the titles of Years 10 and 8 Age Champions to Gibson's winnings Stepping out of the sporting arena, Gibson continued to show the depth of its strength and skill as the House tackled the challenges of the arts The budding purple actors displayed their talents in the inter house
Drama competition. The creation of Penny Gow and Lauren MCIvor, leen09ers in the Wild - A Documentary, won the House a spot in the Drama Showcase where all the girls bedazzled the audience. Eininie and Sarah Will is were particularly entertaining as their characters observed the wonderful world of Grammar teenagers and even bravely fought off an attack from a ferocious mosquito, which left Eininie'sleg in The interhouse Choral Competition was the most recent opportunity to showcase all that being a Gibsonite requires as the House bopped its was to success. Under the fobulous guidance of Clare Saunders and Ajida Haagsma, Gibsonls rendition of When a Woman by Gabrielle, though not securing Gibson a place, demonstrated Gibson House's fantastic ability to have fun. With style and attitude, Gibson gave a sense of freshness and groove to the afternoon performances The year 2001 has been a phantastic year for Gibson within the School with Gibson being able to promote school wide participation in the annual Easter Bunny Hop at the Children's Hospital by combining its community service efforts
with the Big Project. This year has been one of the best for Gibson House and this would not have been the case without the endless help of the House Teachers, Mrs Boltman, Ms Newell, Mr MeIville and Mr Davissen. Special thanks must also go to the Gibsonites themselves who provided Gibson 2001 with its phantastic array of colouL enthusiasm and spirit I particularly want to thank the Year 125 for their continued support and involvement. For five years we have been passionate members of the Phantom Phan Club and as we step out from the Phantom cave, into the wider world, we are realising how special Gibson House 15. This year would not have been so phantastic without the help of Lauren MCIvor, Amy Hillhouse and Sarah Will is and her vocal power. Mrs Moore has been the most supportive, motivating and understanding influence on the Year 125 this year and we would like to thank her and our very own Phantom, Mr Holley, for making this year a phantastic success. Good luck to the House next year, particularly the Seniors and keep the Gibson spirit alive
