A new millennium, fresh new Year 85 and a whole House full of talent, enthusiasm and spirit marked the beginning of the year 2000 for Hirschfeld House. 'Nil Sine Spiritu' (Nothing Without Spirit) has remained as Hirschfeld's motto for the year and has created the vibrant atmosphere in which the whole House has been involved in all Inter house activities. Our House Party, as always, started the year with a real bang and had all the girls ready for action. Although bewildered by images of bizarre orange costumes the Year 85 managed to fit right in with the rest of the House and began to understand why Hirschfeld House is always buzzing with bliss. They continued to impress us with their passionate participation in the Year 81nterhouse volleyball competition and winning third place. it was then at the Interhouse swimming competition that the whole House participated to the fullest and created a splash at Chandler swimming complex. We gathered in flair, style and spirit and amazed everyone with our loud and dynamic war cries which made us hard to compete with. competition under the wonderful direction of our Drama Captains, Louise Firth and Sarah Hack. Here we had a chance to get creative and show the school that Hirschfeld girls are up there with the best of Hollywood and could work together in an open and fun atmosphere. After this it was back into the sporting scene with Cross Country, and with our Sports Captain, Erin Lambert, as the School's Cross Country Captain it was no wonder that her efforts resulted in her becoming the Year 12 Hirschfeld was then found in A1ice's Wonderland in the inter house Drama
Age Champion. The first term came to an end with a delicious cooked breakfast and showed ho we can social ise even better with the help of a lot of sausages, bacon and eggs. Term Two was another fun but different term for the House with the start of The Hirschfeld Game 2000. It was a chance for the whole House to join in, mingle and have a ball in a competitive round of games and treats. There was laughter and screams shared by many each week and it concluded with a more cohesive and productive House ready to face third term's exciting challenges. Tess Palmer led our House Choir with chic and experience in the Inter house Choir competition where we dazzled the school with our singing to the tune of Billy Joel's 'In the Middle of the Night The inter house Athletics came about in a hurry and proved to be another compelling day with many individual and collective achievements. Felicity Abram, our national triathlete, came third in Year 9, while Courtney Gumbley achieved first place in Year 11. Every year Hirschfeld House manages to create a sensation and always continues to amaze. The year 2000 has proved to be no different from those in the past with all the girls in high spirits displaying a never-ending array of talent. There are many people to thank in remembering this wonderful Iy successful year. All the Year 125 who continue to impress with their tolerance and pizzazz, all of the House Group Teachers, Mrs Vize, Mrs Basford, Miss Martel, MrThomas and Mrs Kiolle, who would do anything for the girls at the drop of a hat' All of the captains especially Janet, Erin and Kim, and last, but definitely not least, Mrs Stubbing ton, without whom Hirschfeld would not function with the ease that it does. It's been such a wonderful year and the success of the House is owed to all the girls' our cubs.
