The 14 years placed second with Felicity Abram, Penny Boulton and Laura Whish running second, fourth and ninth. The 15 years were unbeatable taking out their age group pennant. There were exceptional runs by Daina Surka who placed fifth and Kate Robinson sixth. The 16 years were close runners-up this year but still boasted many strong performances. Victoria Royle and Sophie Cameron placed fifth and ninth respectively. The 17 years and Open gained a creditable fourth with some Hockey players and rookies competing for us on the day. Erin Lambert, one of the Cross Country captains, ran courageouslyI gaining second followed by Julia Dowsett coming in fourteenth. Everyone realised that it was a very close competition but it was soon announced that BGGS had won, beating Somerville House by four points, not far off Mr Booth's estimate of a five point win. Who said that man wasn't amazing! We were QGSSSA Cross Country Champions for the seventh year in a row. After intense celebration, training recommenced the following Monday afternoon to ready girls for the Metropolitan North Regional Competition. The following girls ran exceptionally well to gain a spot in the State Championships that were held in Warwick on 20 July: Lauren Gamero, Amy Cunning ham, Kate Leitch, Felicity Abram, Penny Boulton, Daina Surka, Kate Robinson, iaime Burnell, Victoria Royle, Jennifer Davis and Erin Lambert. Felicity Abram (first in 14 years), Victoria Royle (third in 16 years) and Erin Lambert (sixth in 17 years and open) performed brilliantly and were invited to attend the national championships. The 2000 BGGS Cross Country season was an extremely enjoyable and successful one' The spirit and determination of the runners was second to none and the 2000 Captains, Jane Leadbeater and Erin Lambert, wish future teams the best of luck.
