This year Theatre Dance proved to be exciting, original and fun. Theatre Dance is an afterschool club, which allows girls to express themselves and increase personal fitness through dance and performance. This yearTheatre Dance organised Grammar's firstTalent Quest from 15 to 18 May. This proved to be a very successful event in our calendar. The Talent Quest allowed any girl or group of girls to enter an item in any form including dancing, singing, acting, playing a musical instrument, or simply getting together with a group of friends and expressing themselves!! There were a number of entries, which resulted in a showcase of the best, held on 30 May. All of the entries were of a very high standard and all girls are to be coinmended on their efforts. The finals included dancers, singers and actors' After a lot of debate, the judges awarded first place to Kristy Scandrett (8 Lilley) for her solo dance. Runner-up was awarded to "Bardot"- a very talented group of Year 125 (Paige Gumbley, Jane Holland, Erin Lambert, Georgie Pearce and Ursula Sevil). Overall the Talent Quest was a great success providing both a show of aspiring talent and a lot of laughter. All proceeds from this event went to assisting the Big Project. Another highlight for Theatre Dance was the concert held on 10 August. This provided an opportunity for the members of the club to perform their dances for the school body. Although the regular venue was unavailable, the girls still performed with great enthusiasm on the stage lawn. The talent displayed by all the girls was exceptional and was acknowledged enthusiastically by the large crowd. We would like to extend our thanks to the many people who have helped make Theatre Dance such a success this year. Firstly to Sarah Kersnovske, our choreographer and principal teacher, who throughout the first half of the year gave up much valuable time and effort to assist us. During the second half of the year, Miss Cain took over the role of choreographer and she was also able to contribute valuable knowledge and experience to the group. Many thanks must also go to Mrs MCConaghy and Mrs Murphy. Without their ongoing support, organisation and co- ordination, the year could not have possibly been the success that it was. Finally we would like to thank all the girls for their consistent effort and dedication to the club this year. Although his one of the smaller clubs within the school, the energy and vitality within the groupis a greatindication of the many fun and exciting times to comein future years' We have thoroughly enjoyed co- captaining such a vibrant and dedicated group this year and look forward to hearing of the successes and achievements of the group in the future.
