I999 has proved 10 be another triumphant Year for the mighty Gibson House The ghost who walks certainly made his presence felt as Gibson enjoyed success with each Gibsoniie contributing enthusiasm, pride and spirit The Year commenced with our Year 85 eager 10 learn the ways of Ihe Phantom 11 was evident from the first day that purple would feature as a prominent colour in the months ahead. After the Gibson tribe renewed their Phantom pledge, 1999 was officially off to a skirt
The Gibson House party, the first date on the Gibson calendar, was a huge success and purple power serif tremors throughout the school as Gibsoniies sang and danced in the quest for Miss Gibson glory! Georgina Mailhews, Year 9, claimed the title. The afternoon drew 10 a close when the last purple chocolate wrapper had been peeled and the final piece o1 cake had been eaten. The House party proved that Gibson would be a force to be reckoned with in the Year ahead Gibson's to lents were displayed of the Inter house Swimming Carnival. The purple cap quickly became a symbol of victory with all Gibsoniies participating enthusiastically. Placed second overall, it was a fantastic result, reflecting our spirit and energy. The crosscouniry competition proved that Gibson excels away from the pool. The high level of participation made it an enjoyable afternoon. in the Athletics, Gibsoniies threw, lumped and ran their hardest. Even the Phantom himself made an appearance 10 show his support for his favourite purple house. With a wacky array of purple ensembles and the tireless cheers from a dedicated cheersquad, Gibson achieved a tremendous third place overall In the Arts Gibson once again showcased their talents. Directed by our Drama Captain, Kale MCCrossin, our inter house Play proved 10 be a very witty, polished performance. On a different note our Choir, captained by lane Menzies and Clotsjackson, won the Interhouse Choral Competition with a beautiful rendition of Madonna's like a Prayer. Our debaters and public speakers also performed well Once again Gibson took on the role of Easier Bunny at the Royal Children's Hospibl. Such a rewarding experience brought happiness to bdh patients and Gibson bunny. One of Gibson's greatest achievements of I 999, however, was its organisation of 'leans for Genes Day" for the second Year. Year I I s must be congratulated for their terrific organisation which raised a total of $ I 302 101 genetic research The success that Gibson has enjoyed this Year would not have been possible without Ihe Year I2 Phantoms. Five Years ago we were welcomed info this brilliant house and we now leave as fully fledged Gibsonites Thank You to all House Group teachers and seniors. Your support this Year has been greatly appreciated I would like to thank Gibson's Sport Captains, Georgie Mewing and lane Menzies, for their dedication and enthusiasm. Their efforts made our sporting carnivals such a great success throughout the Year. To Kale Steele, my Vice Captain, a big thank you for her organisation and vitality which has helped me so much this Year. Finally, on behalf of all Year 12 Gibson, I'd like 10 thank Mrs Kimber and Mrs Woin Without their support and guidance, I 999 would not have been the success it was This Year I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of such a terrific house.
