GranTmar Sailing Captain) will ensure that the Grammar tradition of success, perseverance and enjoyment is handed down to next year's sailors in January, Julia Patterson and old girls from 1997, Sarah Roberts-Thornson and Lisa Charlson, competed in the Interna- liona1420 National Championshipsin Adclaide, South AListralia SaralT and Lisa won the Women's National 'lines and Julia finished fouril\ in that division. Anna Patterson competed in the Saboi National Championships in Townsvillc and finished ninth. Anna then returned 10 Brisbane to compete in the Flying 11 National Championships The team racing selection trials were held in late January SImone had the difficult Task of selecting gills to fill the twenty- one places in three Teams. Training was fast paced to help the sailors settle in Their positions before tile first of our major regattas. The Metropolitan North 'ream Racing Trials were held at Mooloolaba and the top three teams were allowed to race in the Regional 'ream Racing Titles The A-team placed second followed by the B-team in third place and the C-team finished fifth. The Regional Regatta was also held in Mooloolaba and was closely contested at a hioh standard. The Girls Grammar A and B 1,111Ts finished in a three way tie with the ACGS B-Team. On 111c collnt hack, the ACCS B-team was placed ahead of the Girls '1'11i:, 111,111i that the Grammar sailors were not selected to race 111 111<' 1:11Liili-East Queensland 'Titles. Even thougli school leani racino had finisl}ed for the year Kate Sundge, Kate Matley and Fiona Hogg were selected to compete in the inter-regional 'Titles in Yeppooii. 'They wei'e racing well until Kale Maney slipped in the boat and dislocated her knee. Unperturbed, she went on and finished the race. The next dayJulia Nathanson was flown up to replacc ITer and the team finished third Bacl< at A1001001aba, the school had cniercd four teams in the Sc}1001s Team Racing Competition at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, Manly. This is a new compelition which has been oroaniscd between Ihc schools The Girls Grammar Sailing Club 11as entered the largest number of teams and this is a great accomplishment considering that only two years ago we were entering one team in similar competitions.
