o'c 1 995 has proved itself to be an outstanding year for I O'Co.tnor House, not only through achievements in such areas as drama and sport, but also through the friendships developed and the fun had by all O'Connorites. In January, organising a year of house activities seemed daunting for the

O'Connor's choir, led by Natalie deJager and Kym Westbury, sang an artangement of "A \fhole New 'World", and not surprisingly was placed first! This is now the third year in a row that O'Connor has won this competition and therefore we wish next year's Year Twelves good luck in maintaining this tradition.
In the gymnastics competition we also achieved highly, placed fifth in the artistic section and sec- ond by 0.1 points in the rhythmic section. It was great to see full house parttcipa- tion in both of these house com- petitions and I think that every- one would agree that they were heaps of fun. Two rela- daywhich involved heaps of organisa- tion by O'Connor's sports captain,Kate Bentley. A House newspaper has also been developed this year in order to keep tabs on O'Connor's pro- gress as well as spe- cific O'Connorite's achievements. tively new sports started off the second semester, those being soccer and basketball, and once agatn a maiortty of the house was involved. The athletics carnival, this year held at the Anglican Church Grammar School, was a great
part of all house activities. The premier event of the 7995 yeat was the annual "House Pafty" at which the Year Nines excelled themselves and won the "Miss O'Connor Quest", and the
Year Eights convinc- ingly displayed the new war cries which they had written and wefe wanting to share with the rest of the house. These war cries came in very handy at the Inter- house Swimming Carnival in March, where O'Connorwas placed sixth overall, butwe did extremely well in the individual age championships where Belinda Deal became the fourteen years age champion. First term also held the Drama competi-
tion where, in keeping with O'Connor's usual outstanding standard, we came second behind Beanland. Thanks must go to Liz Carter and Caitlin Hunter who directed our extremely funny production entitled "The Flooglebinder Family Flame". Second term was also very busy, as it held both the choral competition and Interhouse rhythmic and artistic gymnastics.
year so far has been tremendous due to the great spirit of the girls and the overall interest and enthusiasm of the house. I'd like to say a big thanks to the whole house for their dedication, as this has certainly helped make my job a lot easier anda gteat experience. ALISON WRIGHT
