I I O' J, ,- \ J I I, * * ; * A yenr 12 ISP snideii!s CAREER EDUCA'1'10N ear 10 students ITave experienced a broad range of Career-relate <1 activities, with the emphasis in the second half of the year being centred on Subject Selection for Years 11 and 12 in May, each Year 10 class attended an afternoon session at the Career Reference Centre in Adelaide Street and TOE were lucky enough to be invited to the launch of the 1994Job Guide The girls had the opportunity to meet the Fedei'al Member for Brisbane, ArclT Bevis, as well as sampling a delicious nTorning Tea, not 10 ritention having their photographs taken for' various Brisbane newspapers A number of guest speakers have addressed the girls, including Solicitor, Elizabeth James on (past SILident and head girl) speaking about "Year 10 and the Law". Mrs Lynch, Assistant Principal, Counselling, has attended eaclT of the eight Year 10 classes to discuss Subject Selection and Ternaiy Entrance. With many students also attending Open Days at various Universities throughout Queensland, The Year Tens are thoroughly pre- pared to venture forth into Senior Studies gaining places in TAFE Associate Diplomas and are participat- ing in courses such as Business and Childcare. A few opted for immediate employment and are currently working in areas such as Legal Reception, Hairdressing and Tourism \. :# * * *,, I ill- J;* ,.\ "", \,/.. The school has consolidated its links willT a ntimber of TAEE Colleges and Campuses whicl} include COOTparoo College of Tourism and Hospitality, Southbank institute of TAFE and Northpoint TAEE The girls thoroughly enjoyed attending these courses and gained an insight into life ancl study outside school TITe internal cufficult!in for Integrated Studies was fine- tuned this year to provide a balance of subjects. These included the introduction of the Board subject, Multi-strand Science in addition to Maths in Society, EngiislT Studies, Social and Legal Studies, Creative Expression, Computing, Small Business Stud- ies, Conversational Japanese, Physical Edticaiion and Drama ?
