HOUSE SPORTS VICE-CAPTAIN: Billie-10 Thornpson The PhanionT - ghost who walks. .. This legend and his Gibson disciples were heard and seen everywhere this year. . . From Easter egg distribution at the Children's Hospital 10 divine but tooth rolling sweet stalls in aid of Cancer Research. in the Interhouse swimming and athletics, many Phantom dis- ciples may have finished in the middle of the pack, but only Gibsonites could see the churning water leading the swim- mers and the gust of wind breaking the tape at the finish line that indicated the presence of their true leader, our phantom, winning in spirit! Others may have thought we should have been despondent at apparently not winning, but we were jubi- iani at the inevitable and univel'sal success of our leader - the ghost who walks, swims and runs! Emulating their athletic leader, oui' phantomiasiic Gibsoniies tripped the light fantastic in rhythmic and allisiic gymnastics Gibson House is not only known for its athletic prowess, but even more so for its intellectual depth. The reputation of oui' debating team, with its unmatchable wit, devastatino sarcasm and profound intelligence, frightened all opposition into sub- servient submission. So by the end of the competition, we'll have 10 debate am o11gsi ourselves! To compensate for the Phantom's stoical silence, Gibson excelled in theii' vocal PUTSuiis. The sonorous tones of "Spirit Wings", led by Michelle Koh, A1ice Cheno, Kym Smith and "The Phantom of the Gibson Opera House", I'esonated and reverberated Ihl. oughout the Auditorium. in conti'ast, the Wai cries assembled by Claire Addelsee and co SII'uck fear into Ihe hearts of the oilier houses who cowered voicelessly When the other 110uscs were not quaking in fear, they were rolling on the gi. ound with uncontrollable Iauuhtei. at the hilar jous "Uncle ETnie's Portrait", wi'illen by our own Kara Allen All in all, a truly Phantasmagorica1 1993!
