The first was to in110duce students to basic manual skills associated willI the use of various tools (hammers, saws, shovels and picks) and machinery, e. g. a cement mixer, in order to construct a pig pen and a chicken coop. Despite a tremendous effort by the students the pig pen is still awaiting a few finishing touches before the pigs are let loose again The second objective was for students to plan and under- take a four day canoe expedition in the Cooloola National Park. Tee-shirts blossomed with computer assisted designs, experimental dyeing, spiders and webs. Gamelan players, Napoleon's cannonballs, computers, fluttering kites and red herTinos made the air hum. Brass rubbing, calligraphy, pease pudding and miracle plays lent a touch of the medi- aeval. Smarties statistical surveys, wet 'n'wild explo- rations of H20, a mystery tour and a "dig" uncovered some of the secrets of the universe. Budding architects presented their findings at City Hall, judge and jury dellb- eration, cartoonists hatched ideas - that was B. G. CS. on 2nd and 3rd December: two days of inlegrative, active and co-operative workshops. Students and staff and visiting experts worked together for "something completely differ- Grit". Feedback from all groups: let's find some convenient time to do it again.
