who have shown such great spirit this year. May you I. success continue in 1993. Remember, "Fear' the Phantom, Fear Gibson!"
GIBSON HOUSE
J
We warned the other houses to 'Fear the Phantom', but did they listen? Our opponents didn't believe in 'the ghost who walks', so they learned the hard way. We beat them off the blocks, stupefied them on stage, and flogged them on the field This yeal' Gibson House preferred not to concentrate on specific talents, but to let our ingenuity run across many different fields. 11 is therefore hardly surprising to know that we were labelled "all rounders". Our perfoimance at the Interhouse Swimming in February was nothing short of sheer brilliance, triggering off an unstoppable roll of success. As we entered the valley pool stadium an ominous silence prevailed. The other houses tried to disguise their awe when they gazed across at OUT haven of purple. The Pliantoni displaying his lethal skills and high flying bannei. s and extremely stretched vocal chords ensured our house spirit was immeasurable. We swam our way to second place and, as usual, outstanding perlonnances were the nonn. Maintaining oui' enthusiasm and pride, Gibson proceeded to perform many great feats this year. Our house play "Cats, Lawnmowers and Grammai' Girls", adapted and directed by He Ien Castrisos, involved actresses from all grades. Their teamwork produced a memorable perfor mance Inat kept the audience in stitches. Next o11 111e aoenda was the interhouse Choral compeli tion, anti who could forget the spine-tingling sound we made? The group of budding young vocalists wei. e headed by Leanne Scliuntnei' and Bridget Bleakly who wrote and o1'chest rated this year's song, "The End Was Wrong" Momentum built as Gibsoii continued on to compete in Debating, Cross Counti'y and Athletics competitions excellino in all endeavoui's. The Phantom 11imself put in a special appeal'ance at QEll, stunning the other houses with his incredible physique! There were many girls who fervently wished they could have swapped to Gibson The futui'e looked grim for the opposition when OUT gym riasts took to the flool' in the Intel'house Artistic and Rhythmic Gym. Their dynamic routines proved to be first class as they blitzed the contest to gain first placing in Rhythmic and second in Artistic. This superb effort capped a victorious yeai. for Gibson in the 19921nterhouse A unanimous decision 10 continue supporting the Royal Children's Hospital and Caravan Playgroup marked the beginning of a promising fund-I'aising effort. New and innovative ideas were suggested for fundraising through out the yeai. . During the week preceding Easter, girls again spent an enjoyable afternoon with patients at the Royal that day competitions. We've niade the Phantom proud!
