SOFTBAT!. The 1989 Softball season looked promising with both A and B Crade teams training hard to refine their batting and fielding skills before games stafted. Under the coaching of last year's Captain, Sue Harris, the B Crade looked set to defend their premiership of 1988, yet this was not to be - some unfortunate defeats saw them finish the season in 7tl'| place. The A grade faced the season with extreme dedication (yes - while you were all living it up on your Christmas holidays. we were in intensive training at school). Emerging as victors from exciting hard fought games against the strength of premiership contenders such as St Peter's and Moreton Bay College, we were in a great position to boost ourselves into the top rankings. Unfortunately our poiicy of "beat the hard teams and lose to the weaker teams" was to prove too strong and we joined the B Crade in 7th piace. Thanks must go to Mrs Harvey-Short for her dedication anci organization throughout the season as coach of the ,A Crade, to Mrs Cooke for her accurate scoring and to out' willing umpires, Linda Brusasco and Aliza Ezra. Cood luck next season. Kirsten Moore Captain.
