quality results that took her to the Q.U.T. where she completed her degree Bachelor of Business Management in 1987. She joined Mathers as a trainee Manager in January 1 988. Judith is looking ahead, working towards becoming a store manager, and ultimately a buyer. She has embarked on a career in a field that has a particular fascination for her, and with her energy and application, her continuing success seems assured.

From late August until late December I completed my second semester. I also worked during this time in the pharmacy of a large hospital situated on the university campus. This work provided invaluable experience. This period also included events such as Halloween and Thanksgiving. Halloween was just like the movies. Children dressed up in costumes and went trick-or-treating. I went to a haunted house and thought I would never come out alive. Thanksgiving was a national holiday and included a feast of the traditional turkey and pumpkin pie. The people in the United States and especially the Mid- West were terrific, very friendly, casual, easy-going and everyone just "loves your accent". Australia really is the "flavour of the month". I can't wait to return for another long visit. Liz highly recommends student exchanges as an invaluable experience. DANCE EXCETLENCE! During her years at B.C.C.S. Lauren Higgins was a well liked student who achieved well in sport, music, science and speech and drama. She chose to leave the school after completing Year 10 in 1988, to concentrate on ballet at the Queensland Dance School of Excellence, where students combine dance training with academic study, at Kelvin Crove High School. This year, Lauren was awarded the $500 Cath Mackenzie- Forbes Award as the "most outstanding new student" at the Q.D.S.E.. She was chosen by a distinguished panel of judges for her outstanding dance abilities and academic results. Lauren started learning ballet to correct a congenital foot problem, but the cure was transformed into a dream. Her friends at B.C.C.S. are following her progress with pride, and hope that Lauren will one day achieve her ambition to dance Ciselle with the Australian Ballet.
