The trophy is awarded for the encour- agement of an original production in the English language by means of an Essay, Story or Poem. ROSEMARY PALLISTER THE ACIE ALEXINA GILLIES MEMORIAL PRIZE FOR STRINGED INSTRUMENT Donated in 1970 by her sisters, Merna and Valda, past pupils of the school. ELIZABETH EDCE THE BERYL BTANCH STEEDMAN MEMORIAL PRIZE FOR DRAMA Presented by Mrs. P.H. Bailey in memory of her Aunt who was a Senior English Mistress at the School. This Prize is awarded to the girl who has done the most outstanding work in connection with Drama. KAREN ROBERTS THE MERLE WEAVER PRIZE FOR PUBLIC SPEAKING Donated in 1954, by Miss Weaver, a former member of the Staff. SENIOR STEPHANIE LUDLOW JUNIOR ELIZABETH EDCE THE ESTHER BEANTAND MEDAL FOR TEXTITE DESIGN This was given in 1915 by Miss Sophia Beanland, Headmistress 1882 - 1890 in memory of her mother. TERESA BLINDELL PRIZE FOR CREATIVE PAINTING

THE R.T. IEFFERIES AND ANNE ETHELREDA IEFFERIES BURSARY This commemorates the first Music Master of the school (1875) and his daughter, an Old Cirl of the School and a past Music Mistress, whose gift it is. The bursary is awarded to the "most promising student in the school fqg the advance- ment of music". SUSANNAH WEBB THE KENDALT BROADBENT MEMORIAT PRIZE FOR BIOTOGY First given in 1941 by Mr. J.E. Broadbent, a member of the Board of Trustees for many years, in memory of his father. Awarded to a pupil of Year 11 for the best Essay in a Natural History subject. TAYE CHAI THE TOPPER CUP FOR CITIZENSHIP OEAR 10) This Cup was donated by Mrs. EV. Topper, a former member of staff. JOANNAMARTEL THE D.E.
