Outer Buish - Odyssey Nurmhen fl!! Have you ever experienced abseiling, canoeing down rapids or hiking through mountains of lantana carrying your bare essentials (lollies) on your back? No? You lucky person. Year Nine Camp consisted of many rigorous tasks, preparing us for Year Ten Camp. Upon arrival at Imbil, we set down our luggage in the luxurious accommodation - not the Ritz but six-man tents. After diff using a nuclear bomb, cramming twelve people onto a seat made for one and safely negotiating the snake pit, we headed for the showers. Little did we know it would be our last shower for three entire days. On Tuesday, we rose from being amateur tree climbers to being prof essionalabseilers, and f rom immature kick- boarders to experienced canoers, not to mention our night time gourmet cooking and night orienteering. We spent the night in three-man tents near Borumba Dam. Wednesday, we terrorised the creeks with our canoes filled with suspicious-looking garbage bags - our back packs. Unfortunately, we did not sight any platypuses, but we did manage to pick up several f resh mussels. Thursday was the day we had been waiting for: the ten and a half kilometer hike over trackless terrain under f lawless navigation f rom our cooking groups. We made it and earned the shower that awaited us. Friday was Centre Beautification Day and the science competition. The problems seemed unsolvable, but time f Iies when you're having f un, so before long we were on the bus, singing and consuming jellybeans. Grade Nine lmbil Camp was an experience we and Mrs Fairlie will never forget' Marina Cominos and Emily Granger (9A) JAUF
