BASKETEAI-L CAPTAINS
They're off and running!
S. MacDonnell ([eft) and T. Fritchard.
BASKETEA!.t This year, as always, Crammar basketball boasts more than eighty minor versions of Leroy Loggins. We now have eight teams with eight coaches. Once again Grammar teams have hade a fun-filled year, with still more to come, as basketball is one of the few year-round sports. Mr Rayner is the long-time coach of our beginners, the Under Fourteens. This year he is happy to report that Crammar's future basketball prospects appear good. The school team has also shown great talent. We are competing in Queensland Secondary Schools State Championship in September. Congratulations to all girls who made the team. The coach, Mr Warden, has put in endless effort to form the team into a keen fighting machine. We have also been under the experienced eyes of Mike and two Lady Bullets, Denise Weinreiss and Bronwyn Marshall. Mr Emery is working us to the bone in the name of f itness so that the team will be well able to cope with six games in three days. We are looking forward to a successful and enjoyable trip, accompanied by our manageress, Mrs Short. We would also like to thank the other coaches, Dallas, Anne Cutting and Mr Mattern, for their enthusiastic coaching throughout the year. We hope they have enjoyed themselves as much as we have. Last, but not least, we would like to thank all the Grammar basketballers for making such a consistent effort and making our year as captains so much fun. Special congratulations to lsabel Khursandi and Karen Frier who were selected in Brisbane teams outside the school.
