Hirschfeld certainly started the year with plenty of house spirit, as we nearly blew the roof off H-block with war cries at our house party. The first opportunity to put this house spirit into action was at the lnterhouse gymnastics competition in which Hirschfeld proved to be a cut above the rest by winning the artistic section and coming fourth in the ryth mic. As the House meeting times were changed from every fortnight to once a month, it was decided that each House Group would organise a House assembly. We have had a great variety of activities including films, games, swimming carnivals and a speaker from the Women's Information Service. The main activity for the house was the house party on the 27th February. We played a number of games and the afternoon featured a Miss Hirschfeld Competition. The contestants were asked a series of questions and had to parade their unusual costumes. One of the most unusual contestants, to say the least, was Ms Maxine Emery, but she did not take the Miss Hirschfeld crown. This honour was given to one of our younger contestants, Anna Kinnear, of Year 9. To complete the party (and satisfy the ninety empty stomachs), thirty Silvio Pizzas were ordered and eaten with chocolates, cakes and other fattening goodies. The athletics, on the 18th September, is our next main event, and I'm sure we will keep up our terrific winning style. Already we are planning orange and white shorts and matching hats. 1985 has been a challenging and hard working year for Hirschfeld. I would like to thank the teachers, especially Miss Burrows, for their help and support. Many thanks are to be given to jodie Laun, Donna Horton and the rest of the Year 12 team, for their ideas, suggestions and work toward the House. I know Hirschfeld will do well in future years, and the Year 12s wish them luck in doing so.
