1985 School Magazine

Knl-r\no.. GIBSON HOUSE REPORT 1985 It all began with the naming of our eva' loving' mascot PEPE, ' by Simona Hoey and Anne Swain. Then we knew that GIBSON was off to a PURPLE PEPE start!!! GIBSON House Sausage Sizzle, held on March 5th, was a wing ding of a time (try sucking PURPLE spaghetti up your nose!). Our Iron Maiden star, Vicki Voller found out that being PURPLE isn't easy, especially when forced to eat a mixture of PURPLE spaghetti and jelly. (Spaghetti is GIBSON's staple diet). The next exciting instalment was the unv€iling of the "GIBSON GAZETTE", a paper directed at the GIBSONITES of the world. Filled with fun and games and the PROBLEM PAGE, it brought smiles to many faces!! Because, in previous years, GIBSON people have not had ' the pleasure (?) of discovering the existence of the other grades, PEPE decided that this year was going to be different. He expertly organised his own Mini-Oiympics, (won by the team from the country of Grade 9) . PEPE's Premier Performance: The Academy Award for best skit went to Grade 8, with the majority of acting awards going to the Grade 10's, and the big event of the year was "Adoption Day". This day was very successful in uniting all the grades of GIBSON, and finding out a lot about what makes the older/younger grades tick. This year, PEPE has been helped by many budding young and old (whoops! middle aged) GIBSONITES and he would like to give a BIG PURPLE THANK YOU to each and everyone. Three PURPLE cheers go to Mrs Kimber for taking on the rebellious Year 12's and GIBSON House in mid- stream and to Mr Warden for getting the year of to a great start . RA RA RA!!! secondly, cheers to the four Form Seniors, Margie Young, Kylie Clark, Amanda Fitzsimons and Nikki Pantges for helping to bring the house together and to our famous GIBSON GAZETTE writer, alias Nichole Mudie, for giving us fun and entertainment in each exciting (? ) issue of the GIBSON GAZETTE. To Peta Morse (and crutches) , huge thanks for her wonderful organisation of all GIBSON sporting activities, to demonstrate the sporting potential of all GIBSONITES!!!! Last, but definitely not least, cheers to the memorable YEAR 12's who helped make 1985 the best year, full of fun and laughs. Thanks heaps for everything you've done to make GIBSON GREAT in 1985.

Liz Hartland and Katrina Voller

P.S. May the force of PEPE be with you . . . always! 38
