ENGTAND HOUSE
House Colour - Light Blue House Mistress - Ms. Rant
England House started the year off with a 'thump' (an Elephump that is) - with the creation of a new house mascot, the England Elephump. For those of us who are ignorant enough not to know this rare species, it's just a cute name for an el"phant. Although England d id not do as well in the lnterhouse swimming as it usually does, House spirit was running high and all swimmers performed well. With a combination of new house war cries and the new House T-shirts, England looked and sounded tremendous. There are always some outstand ing ind ivid uals such as our House Sports Captain, Susan McCann who won the age champion medal for seventeen years age group. The next event on the House competition agenda was the lnter-house Gym nastics. England perf ormed brilliantly in the Artistic winning this section with flying colours. Andrea Nunn from Nine England is to be congratulated for her outstanding performance. All gymnasts performed admirably in the Rhythmic Section a lso. Fund raising went smoothly this year, with the Grade Eights having a teachers'cake drive and raising Fifty-f ive Dollars. The Grade Nines are to be congratulated on a superb effort in raising One Hundred and Forty Four Dollars through an Easter Egg Raffle. The Grade Tens also had a teachers'cake drive and a sweet stall. ln inimitable Crade Twelve style, (we like to call ourselves the Quiet Achievers) we made up our Forty Dollars by having a hishly publicised Hot Chocolate Stall. Not to be forgotten, the England House choir, without doubt the highlight of the year, was the lnterhouse Choral Competition. The theme this year was 'peace' and EnglanC chose the son g " Love is all at the Butte rfly Ball".JL)ne'l5th the big day had arrived, Lisa Thompson our conductor raised her hand, we allthought that was the signal, especially Judy Wordsworth who gave out a deafening screech ! However, Lisa was just scratching her head. Crad e 12 England wish the house every success in 1985 and thank Ms. Rant f or being such a patient House M istress. I would also Iike to personally thank my Vice-Captain, Natacha Dobrovolsky, Sports Captain, Susan McCann, Vice Sports Robyn Michelmore, and allthe form seniors for their help and support.
