1982 BGGS Magazine
LILLEY HOUSE 1982 has been a year filled with fun , excitement and surprises for all members of Lilley House. The year got off to a great start when Lilley came second in the inter-house swimming on the 19th February. Everyone gave magnificent performances and congratulations are due to all swimmers, particularly those in Years 8 and 9. Thanks also to the spirited supporters. The next event on the Lilley Calendar was the house bar-b- que which was held on the II th March. The evening was a great success . While Year 12 girls slaved away in the canteen preparing the meal, the rest of the house swam and played games in the Auditorium. The evening will be long remembered in the history of Lilley House for the greatest number of meat patties consumed in an hour, and the es- tablishment of a new world record for jelly-bean dives! Another major project was the inter-house choir festival. Our choir was chosen from the cream of the House' s singers and under the direction of Margot Hawley practised long and hard for the big event. Unfortunately Margot was unable to conduct the choir and I had to fill in (shudder!). Despite this severe handicap the choir performed well and Margot must be thanked for her fine efforts . The inter-house athletics were held on the 14th May and Lilley performed well coming in 5th overall. The great 8 and 9 relays came first and Dimity Winders won both her age and school championships. Congratulations team! Once again the house supported Simon Parmola in the Save the Children program. This year Simon completed his schooling and Lilley is very proud to have helped him gain an education . We wish him the best of luck for the future . The year has been a wonderful year for me personally, and I hope the rest of the house has enjoyed it as much as I have. I would like to thank all the House Group Seniors and the 12 ' s who have been so helpful. A special thanks must go to Eva Huehne, my very supportive Vice-captain and our House mistress Mrs Thornquist who put up with all my nagging. Keep up the good work Lilley and remember our motto- "Lilley Frogs are Fast and Friendly". Louise Curtis Lilley House Captain
