1981 Formal Friday Night, l8th September, was the climax olmonths of planning and weeks ol dicussing for this was when the seniors held their formal. Leslie, Andrea, and the rest of the lormal committee had spent months discussing urrxngements trying to find a suitable location. organizing decorations, invitations, cost, menu, invited guests, and band. Tlie Creek Comnrunity Cen- tre was the agreed venue and a group of twelve girls spent Fri- day aflernoon decorating the roorn rvith helium balloons and streamers, only tc fincl that by 7.30 rnost had started deflating. However. thosc that rvere still there. with rhe provided carnations orr the tables, added atmosphere to the room. The evening was the end of rveeks of talking, with questions continuallv flying, such as "Who are yoLr taking'1", "What is your dress like?", Who's post are you going to'1". Despite the anrount ol' discussing and class disruptions, we were told we weren't as bad as previous years, let nre tell you though, it doesn't meetn we weren't excited, NO WAy!! By the time friday came around we all had one track rninds - the lormal and were both nervous and excited in anticipation oi the big event, hoping all would go well. And it did! After attending various pre's we rolled up in various lorms ol transportation to meet Mr. and Mrs. Han- cock, and then proceeded on to have our photo's taken in the entrance to lhe dining room, then on lo our allotted tables. Each table seated 16, enabling I'riends to sit together, making the night as lun as possible. The meal was a delicious smorgasboard, ollering tasty roast beef, pork, larrb, chicken, turkey, and ham as well as a varie- ty of salads and accompanied by orange drink. The delicious meal rvas lollowed by dancing, music supplied by the Greek Centre Band, providing rnulticultural songs. At the end oi the night the band taught us the Belly Dance and the traditional Greek dance. The evening was an absolutely enjoyable one combining delicious food. great dancing and lun with friends, and I hope next years seniors have as much lun as we did. Thanks go to the lormal committee, Leslie, Andrea and Mrs. Hancock. Suzanne Strother
