Twenty seven horrible, disgusting, nauseating minuteslater... We were all in the lounge room playing canasta, The Sulls were on the tele, I passed Dad an ashtray The dog lay happily still on the mat, Dad lit his Winfield and Bob lit his Camel. Mum made the tea, Dad had a tinny, I had a lemon cordial, And it was a bonox for Winnie. We sat and ate Vegemite on white bread until Mum Fed the dog outside. And twenty seven horrible, disgusting, nauseating minuteslater... Me Mum came in, Her curlers were all crooked, Her dressing gown was dirty, And at her we did look. "Oh" said she. ln her hand a slipper "l didn't see the mower. lf only I'd been quicker." And we had a cup of tea. they all sat around the table - - staring at each other tried to make conversation only to look 'good' all were bored to tears, yet who was going to adrnit it. so they drank themselves to death and kept on pu{fin' until they trizzled away - - into oblivion, or Sunday, whichever came first.
