GRADE 12 BIOLOGY CAMP On Thursday ,271h ot May, a busload of Grade 1 2 biology students and one unsuspecting teacher made its way towards Camp Constable at Mount Glorious. After ap- proximately two hours of generally indulging in various delicacies such as Tim Tams, Mint Slices, potato chips and numerous other acne-associated foods, we even- tually arrived at our destination - Camp Constable. ln whai was probably record time, 44 girls clambered off the bus and made their way, with what little luggage they had, towards the two cabins named Adam and Eve. The majority of girls eventually settled into Eve with those Oesirini a more private accommodation moving into Adam. A{ter a hazardous battle for top bunks we sei about exploring the actual campgrounds concentrating our attention on the kitchen where lunch was being prepared. We were soon instructed to assemble in the main hallfor a run down on rules, regulations and rosters. A few of those who had previously been reclining on thetr bunks expressed looks of disappointment as they realised that their visions of electric blankets, breakfast in bed and colour teles were to be shattered. We than managed to snap these girls out of deep shock and get down to some serious (?) work. After a few hours of this strenuous biological exploration we heard the bell which was to become the most wonderful sound signifying the com-

mencement of meals. This sound initiated strange behaviour patterns within the huts, there was a mass migration with approximately thirty girls trying to fit through a two foot wide door simultaneously. After the in- itial battle we finally reached the mess hall where I must say we were treated to a fine array of goodies much to our delight as we were all expecting two hundred year old cans of Spam and few dried biscuits. The cooks were very tolerant of our rather rumbustious mealtimes and took everything in their stride. I have but one criticism of the cooks and that is that they showed definite favouritism towards the boarders and continuously ask- ed them if they wanted seconds, obviously under the misconception that they were starved back at school. That night we all went spotlighting, a curious experience of going out and spying on unsuspecting animals with the aim to collect as many leeches as possible" We real- ly saw a lot of tnteresting animals and, being the in- telligent creature that I am, I made sure that I was one of the first back to the campground so that I could dtve into a steaming shower and jump into my pyjamas ready for beddy-byes. We then had supper at 9 p.m. and I must say I received some strange Iooks f rom people who obvious- ly didn't approve of the wearing of mens pyjamas. Oh well, it's the price one has to pay for setting a new style in evening attire.
