GIBSON HOUSE REPORT Most girls f rom other Houses think that Gibson House is a bunch of loonies who worship a purple bean-bag - not exactly truel The blob you all think is a bean-bag is really a Grape-Ape. He is our hero and esteemed mascot. The year started off with a series of round-robins" The results from these led to the formation of the Gibson House Swimming Team. On the 20th of February they were put to the test against the other houses tn the an- nual lnter-House Swimming Carnival at the Vallev Pool. We came second overall to Hirschfeld House. Salll' O'Carroi and Amanda Leeson (both Gibson girls) tied tc wrn the individual points cup. The swimmtnq rouncj- robins continued until the May Holidays. On .tuly Bth a House Bar-b-que was held to let everyone get to know other House members. The evening was most enjoyable and successful in many ways including the birth of ideas for our oncoming House Assemblv" After the August Holidays on September 4th the lnter- House Athletics was held at Churchie. lt was obvious that Gibson House had the spirit to match the outstan- ding achievements acqurred on the day. Our champion team came f irst overall and f irst in Ballgarnes (no thanks to the grade 10's). lt was a wonderful day not oniy because of our success but due to the spirit and par- ticipation generated by everybody in Glbsorl. Two weeks later on Friday the 12th Gibson House presentecl a VERY entertaining House Assemblv. After weeks of preparation and last minute doubts, the whole House rallied to create an assembly that will go down in the history of the school. We were very proud of the ef- forts of the girls involved, especially Tracey Tolcher. On School Day we were in charge of the sale of cakes, sweets and buns. On the whole, Gibson has had a successfulyear. Thanks goes to Miss Gibson and to 12 Gibson 1980 who were always willing and able (in their own special way!lll). Amanda Leeson.
