REPORT ON FRENCH FOLKLORE GROUP
The Group was formed this year, as the result of a re- quest from the Alliance Francaise, for a Can-Can and Song entertainment at their annual Bastille Day celebra- tions. Twenty-two girls joined, and an excellent teacher was found in Jenny Crockardt, ably assisted by Karina Eger- ton. The group performed the Concours de Cuisine Fran- caise on Monday night, 14th July, and also as part of the French Week, at the City Plaza and at the West End lnternational Market. During the visit of the Japanese School to B.G.G.S., a very successful multt-cultural evening was held in the School's Gymnasium, where both French and German groups as well as the Japanese students, performed. A truly international supper was provided by the parents. On School Day, the French Folklore group gave three performances, and on 'l 5th October, the group will enter- tarn at the Annual Prize Giving Ceremony of the Foreign Languages Competition at St. Aidan's School. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to Mrs. Cardell, Mrs. Nivan, Mrs. Scrace, and the many mothers of the Aux- iliary who have helped with the making of the costumes. We look forward to an active future of song and dance. FRENCH DINNER This year Grade twelve students enjoyed their French dinner in real style. Hosted by Libby Dutney's family we were feted in classic French Restaurant atmosphere in their home. Mrs. Dutney presented a wonderful meal for us and we were waited on by Mr. Dutney and his son who were dressed for the formal occasion complete with napkin over arm. Libby's brother designed and printed a beautiful menu for us to complete the scene. We are very grateful to the Dutneys for an enjoyable evening and dinner, in fact we thank them for a French experience wrth a drfference. J. Spykerboer.
