,'TF{ E SUh.!"WORSH IPPERS" Bronze backs and painted chests heave in the godlight, "Oh sun we wake and sleep with you, your heat our very blood, oh god . . ." Weird shapes slide on the burnt retinas, dust droplets dance. From the core of their beings an energy awakens. "Oh mighty one, accept the stone, the wood, the flesh and blood, our sacrifice to you, our god." Energy flows to the limbs, the muscles ripple with new strength, fingers stretch skywards to the burning ball. "We are granted all, your child see 'round us here, we serve, oh lord, we burn, our god." The gold flames touch the air and enclose the circle; the stone is raised, the wood is burnt, and flesh and bone are cinders.

Twisting and turning, Sailing against blue Backg round, Gull and yacht as one, White against blue.
THE VOYAGE The dark sea calls with soft enticing voice; Its music and its mystery seduce, Like some sweet siren song across the years To fear and follow, for I cannot stay. I must embark upon the tide of life. Why should I fear? I know my ship is sound, Built of the skills and confidence and strgngths From home and school and friends, to bear me well. Day fades; the brightness of these childhood years I would not lose; but instinct turns my eyes Towards the dark, the unknown dreadfui deep. Why should I Iear? There is a beacon set, That holds my steady course through shoals and storms. My faith will serve, a sole secure defence Against life's great perplexity: the end Cannot be known before the voyage made. Each step in life, new beach, new sea, new fear - And faith to conquer fear; for I shall know The same Strong Hand that sets my ship afloat Will keep it safe to reach the farther shore.
