SOFTBALL REPORT This year's softball season started off slowly, due mainly to the cancellation of our f irst two matches as a result of wet weather. ln the'A'grade, our main rivals were State High, who eventually took out the premiership by beating us 7-4, with Grammar coming second. The success of both 'A' and 'B' teams during the season was due to Miss Harvey who coached us throughout the season. Without her continuous support and encourage- ment during the season we would not have been as suc- cessful as we were. Our thanks must also go to Mrs. Cooke and Michelle Oswin who scored for both teams. Also thanks must go to all the parents and girls who gave up their time to come along and support the two teams each Saturday morning. Best of luck to next year's teams. Jenny O'Donnell. CROSS.COUNTRY REPORT This year we had a few more enthusiastic members of the school participating in training for the cross-country team. Training began, under Mr. Emery's keen eye, after the May holidays, for the Q'ld Schoolgirl's Cross-Country Championships which were held in Victoria Park on July 7th. This year Grammar entered teams in all age groups and surprisingly enough we didn't do too badly. ln the 16 years and over, F. Fox, J. Crockart and F. Gehrmann, were placed '1 st in the teams event, and were presented accordingly with the Brooke Memorial Trophy. ln other age groups Grammar had various individual placings, ranging from Sth place up into the thirties region. Thanks must go to Mr. Emery, who patiently coached the team throughout the season. Without his encourage- ment we would not have had such an enjoyable time. Jenny A. O'Donnell.
