ff rungtlegese oo GERMANPAGE Der high standard of Deutsch in der schule hat been maintained throughout dieses year, 1973. This achievment has been attained exclusively in der Deutsch faculty due to several, exciting innovations. Our grop thanks go to our lieblings Freund, Keith tr-epold. Er hat provided us mit many hours of enjoyment through his magnanimous gift of several tausend German Grammar sentences. For whenever we look upon the stimulating passives and subjunctives in the future, such sentences will no doubt spring to mind. Life in Deutschland is now on integal part of our characters. The strange and unusual customs, which we did not suspect, have been brought to life through the media. Each woche mit bated breath, pulsating hearts we take our place in the assembly hall to take a peek into the exciting lives of Hans und Gabi - two typical Germans. Their exploits warm our hearts. Why only last woche the culmination of our dreams took place - Hans urd Gabi's wedding day. Now wir all eagerly await the news of little Hans und Gabis. We cannot fairly discuss our newfound German spirit without acknowledging the wonderful work done by Herr Green und Herr Creese (affectionately: Green Cheese). The attractive pictures in their colour- ful series, known as Structural Approach have made all the hard Jahren of Deutsch worthwhile. Germans, we have found, engage in a large variety of activities - not dis-similar to ours. From our freund "Begegnargen" we are able to see the German as he really ist-stilt walker: neurotic: clown: which only goes to show the versatility of the German race. Finally we would like to congratulate all the girls who were successful in the Geothe Reading Com- petition: Pandora Prater (vi); Linda Wilson (v);Robyn Abbey (iv); Daniella Gerber (iii); and thank the various teachers: Frauleins Fischer, Listo and Williams who help zu machen the German lessons a high- light in our school tag. The Alliance Francaise Competition This year, ten girls represented B.G.G.S. in the Brisbane section of the annual inter-school French competition. The representatives were Christine Nolan and Anne Herbert, 5th Form; Susanne Hergenhan and Coralie Horne, 4th Form; Sally-Jane Munro and 9qq4u Warrick, 3rd Form; and Alison Fox and Kym illills, Zna Form. The girls had to recite a poem, db a dictation, and read and converse in French. All are to be commended on their participation and good work; particularly Sally-Jane and Susanne are to be congratulated on their success - first and second prize rn the Grade 9 and l0 Sections. Both girls received book prizes at the Schools Evening arranged by the Alliance Francaise Society.
