HIRSCHFELD
016 | BRISBANE GIRLS GRAMMAR SCHOOL 2022
H irschfeld House is an effervescent streak of tigers, each one with their unique stripes, and all a part of a big orange family. Each member of the House has a competitive and energetic spirit, and we never fail to support and cheer on one another. Where one goes, we all go. It’s difficult to pinpoint one thing that makes Hirschfeld special when our House is filled with 170 individuals whose diverse talents in combination makes our vibrant and diverse radiance. Our motto for this year was Claws Out . We wanted to create an environment where each girl could feel comfortable to express herself as an individual by bringing their unique set of claws out. It is equally important to us that they bring that same enthusiasm and bravery to create one united tiger, showing the rest of the School just how fierce and unstoppable Hirschfeld is. Our 2022 Hirschfeld House Party held in Term 1 was an opportunity for the whole House to celebrate Hirschfeld and the year to come. This year our theme was ‘Orange Icons’—from Ed Sheeran to Garfield, the girls went all out. Interhouse Swimming Carnival took on a different format this year. While no House points were awarded, individuals were invited to complete to gain possible selection in the School Swimming Team.
Cross Country was held in Term 2 and the hilly course was no match for the girls in orange. The Athletics Carnival in Term 3 saw the girls getting their claws out as girls leaped over hurdles and sent javelins flying, securing points for the House. The Hirschfeld girls showcased their amazing teamwork skills in the relays, expertly passing the baton, and sprinting through the finish line. Finally, Interhouse Choir was a blast with Hirschfeld blaring Classic . We must give a huge thank you to our Sport Captains, AJ Tucker (12H) and Tiarn O’Donnell (12 H), and Choir Captains, Charlotte Callinan (12H), Scarlett McLellan (12H) and Ingrid Liu (12H), for their organisation of the girls leading up to, and on, these exciting days. Hirschfeld’s charity this year was WWF, and, for the first year, we sponsored a tiger! In addition to this, Service Captains, Julia Guo (12H) and Kirra Van Nispen (12H), led our continual support of the Smith Family and our sponsor child, Harmony. We are so grateful to Mrs Dabelstein for her unwavering support as Head of House, and to everyone who made the year so memorable! Milly Derrick (12H) and Lottie Johnston (12H) HOUSE CAPTAINS
